There will definitely have to be power limits, and perhaps a species guide or link to one. I think I have those stored, Sue (beate) used to have one and I think its applicable. Laura, would you like any help assembling the lists and making the appropriate changes? I have quite a lot of content and resources from the HB forum I was going to launch, and youre welcome to it. By the way, I also think a more detailed application might be in order, so I am willing to hand you one of those too, however everyone might need to make small revisions to keep things orderly. In my opinion the board needs a massive cleansing and overhaul, which I know you all ready know, but you have me on YIM/SKYPE so feel free to call me when youre back. And hi guys!

After careful consideration, Im not too sure that adding Gods and demigods is a good idea, I think its a quick way to derail the Hellboy universe, but Ill leave this open for discussion. I was considering somehow adding more plots between angels, demons, and bprd and of course the elves versus adding more groups. With who we have now I think what we really need is a direction, and some restructuring. I know my opinion might have changed a bit over the past day or two, but I have been in touch with many of you on the subject. What I am afraid of happening if we let demigods in is that we will turn into a crossfandom of Percy Jackson and Hellboy, which isn't what we're here for. Cross fandoming is not on my likes list, and I am very wary of it. But I can see where the love for mythology is coming from, so maybe theres a way to incorporate a mythological creature, versus gods? Just food for thought. Liam I got hold of you on Skype so Im not replying here. I am however pro mythical creatures and plotting mythical beasts and such, that should be fine.
HOWEVER I did find a way to tie into mythology through angels and demons and the other groups we currently have, so hang on its taking me a snidge longer than anticipated because Im researching a few of these guys.
Meanwhile I think Ill try to think of an event for you guys, or at the very least a small plot. If you have ideas for that dont be afraid to throw them out there

There is SO much Fae mythology. Why not tap more into that world? Pagan, druid, celt...

Just dont tap into the fae court again. That was a really bad idea, if anyone else recalls.

(sad face) Really? Gosh that's a bummer. It was my favorite part of the Hellboy series.

We keep elements from the movie, but the minute we added anything remotely fae court we were getting a ton of Gary Stus and Mary Sues. The problem is we need all of the races in the board to hold the same amount of interest and not focus most our attention on the fae. Ill look into it a bit more, but I am probably not touching the whole fae court thing again if I can help it. Perhaps some of the veteran players remember what happened? Or is it just me?

If may I suggest , The new plot should keep on follow the HB-style ( that's hard, I admit that . Since the comic is very elaborated , according to me , and the movie isn't at all ) so, if the plan is allow magical creatures as well as angels and demons this should somehow fit with the HB movie/comic style or the forum may risk to be associated with a fantasy/dark rp more than an HB one . I'm agree with have a limit for the character's powers but this also means explain which kind of creatures we allow , if angel which kind of angels ? if demons which kind of demons ?...etc etc Perhaps someone already thought about that or has been done already by our lovely admin ( lol ) but perhaps add in some of the creatures info files a list of their habits & abilities, maybe this can help more the members on outline their character/s idea . This may save the staff from stalk a member's app every day trying to make this match with our creature/character idea and give us advantage to say "we told you" in case a member fills a whole app and this one totally don't fits with the SOS plot or creature - style.

Im currently working on a new application and a powers list. Im also working on a Whos Who forum that will elaborate not only on who plays which character, but what their characters can do along with a powers list of who has what affiliation and what powers. I dont want to stray from the Hellboy plot, so Im trying to think of plots that will go along with this. I am still open to ideas, but they really need to be plausible. IE - Greek Gods and such probably should not be involved, and Im particularly opposed to demigods as well, since thats more like Percy Jackson than Hellboy. I think that a Sitewide category could be nice. Then a Movie Event, a BPRD Mission, and an AU Event at all times.. I realize this kind of broadens the horizons, however it would be good to include all groups somewhere... I apologize if this made little sense.

No worries, completely eliminating Greek mythos anything from my character is not a big deal. Maybe for once in my life I'll play a normal, albeit deviously clever, human being. I have no real plot contributions at the moment (sorry ) but I'm open to fulfilling whatever you might need a cyber-savvy character for

The trouble with angels n' demons and sticking to the comics is that angels and demons aren't really supposed to even look like pretty humans. Mike Mignola has never depicted any angels in his comics, except once, in B.P.R.D., and then it was a horrendous creature that tried to kill everyone (it had six wings and a snake-like body). Demons also tend to look very non-human (Azeroth looks like a giant, horned old guy with bat wings and a giant snake in his hand).
Evidently, this is a purely aesthetic problem, and can be solved simply by making demons and angels shapeshift or bend the beholder's senses.

Personally, I like most of the ideas that you guys have put forth, but I must agree with Ludmila. What makes the whole HBverse interesting, at least to me, is the INhumanity of the non-humans of the world. I like the look of this board, it seems well-structured, ordered and you people appear to be both nice and reasonable, but the world of Hellboy was always, again in my opinion, a rather Lovecraftian place. The closest thing you get to human non-humans are the Fae and there's little love lost there. Nearly everything else is utterly inhuman in both thought and flesh unless it chooses to appear otherwise, which is why the few humans in the B.P.R.D. with extra-ordinary capabilities are such an asset. I'd advise opening up humans with powers as playable, but setting some requirement to filter out those not capable of playing them properly, besides power level, fx requiring the applicant to make another character, from one of the other categories, and staying active with them for a specified amount of time, say, a month, before even considering letting them play a powered human. Just a thought.
Regarding plottage, given that you have the time and inclination, I'd suggest a mystery plot. Think up something... unpleasant and, if you're up for it, C'thuluesque, and have it do things around the board without letting the rest of us know what it, or they, are up to. It's a lot of work, I know, but the payoff will be worth it if you pull it off well. Or, a little easier, simply have these inhuman horrors wreak a little havok now and again to instil the feeling of terror and alienation that makes the HBverse what it is. I hope you can use this for something. Regardless, I intend to return and annoy you all further ^_^
