I want to know what your thoughts are on this. I would personally like to keep the HB2 tied in, but we can twist the plot to focus on other things, down an AU or more comic-related path depending on member decision. I do think movie verse is better for catching the attention of members, simply under the reasoning they are more widely spread.
Other plot ideas: +++ Angels/Demons prowl the earth, we COULD keep the current plot.
OR
We can focus on other things -- More monsters, more sitewides, mythology tied in, you name it.
My mind is a bit disorganized, but I'd like to hear the direction you'd like the forum to take as well, so if you have a plot idea, here's the place to throw it.

Hey there, newbie still struggling with writing up her massive history. I was beyond excited to learn that the main story of Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, begins with the tale of Emerson Blackwood and his Manor at Fallen Mill...only because of the fact the Auction that Nuada makes his appearence in is a Blackwood Museum or Charity. So I'm hoping to incorporate the new movie (by tweaking the timeline) and having it happen before HB2.
I do think a continuation of the Hellboy 2 verse is a great idea, the trying to gain followers for the revolution and war to come. I also have a fae origin creature, a Kelpie, I could bring to the mix.

I am a fan of the plot pieces like you had been working on before. I like the idea of having story pieces of the movie behind the scenes / blue screened things for the different groups. I think that you have a good skin, a good informational base, and a good plot idea. We just need a jumpstart. (:

I definitely like the premise of the original ideas, but maybe if we added a bit more mythology base. (Of course, I grew up reading and studying mythology so I would say that) Unfortunately, I know nothing of the original comic so if the plot relied heavily on knowing that, I would be in a bit of trouble.
Liz is right though. If nothing else a good jump start would work wonders.

Well, I'd be more enclined for a plot closer to the comics, but since most people haven't read those, we should probably not try that idea and stick to something more open.
I agree with Liz giving the current angels vs demons plot a jump start would be a good idea. We never really "started" a real site-wide plot. Maybe we could add more monsters and mythology to it.

And I'm on the having little knowledge of the comics, but I'm willing to learn.

I'm sorry for vanishing for a bit, I was working on a show and it sucked up my time. But now it's over and I'm free and hoping that this RP isn't dead. I'm still interested!

Ok so heres what Im getting out of your ideas so far and Ill post a proper plot structure tomorrow, and you guys can help build and add onto it. Also, if you have characters in mythology you want to see played please list them here. I will be assembling a canon list based on the information provided. And what is applicable of course. We will also take a member vote since Id like to establish our grounds before going into relaunching advertisements. It would be nice to have the plot established first. So what I was getting: More mythology, keep the angels and demons. Im struggling with how to incorporate the mythology. Are you guys wanting demigods, or the full blown chaos of the greek/norse setup? I find those two are typically more compatible, however, I want to hear everyones opinion about cross fandoming and whether or not adding mythology at a high level actually crosses that line? Note, Im not spellchecking. Im in a rush to get this place going so Im doing about five million things at once and a lot more tomorrow. Stupid computer. Dx I know Im not the best administrator, and I will work hard to find a system that works. I regret to inform you that I will be removing Snow from the staff since hes been AWOL and at this point Im not sure what has happened to him.

I'm digging just full blown chaos when it comes to mythology, we definitely have to have greek/norse because those are both amazing. But we could also do both, gods and demis, however, there might end up being a lot of offspring running around.
One question I do have, can we incorporate Celtic and Egyptian too? Or is that a given? I understand if not because that might be too much but it was just a suggestion. I love Egyptian mythology ;D.

Maybe I'm just insane and like to make things complicated, but could anyone else see a full blown war between the pantheons? Or between the old and new gods of Greek mythology? Come on, who wouldn't want to see the chaos created by the Titans vs. Zeus and the new gods?

It would probably give the Demons and other creatures, like myself, someone to be aligned with, should there be wars. I think having all those pantheons and such being allowed would make this Hellboy RPG very unique and open to many more people than just those interested in Hellboy. The people who enjoy playing gods/demigods are many. I just think you would have to put a cap on the power levels. XD

Hey I know you, Laura, from another RP, and youre not a horrible administrator, you do really well when youre actually present, and usually I notice you take too much on yourself, and burn out. Some cases, this is normal. Anyway, I want to join, but Im waiting for this all to be ironed out. At any rate I think it would be kind of cool if you could get a war for Earth going, perhaps between all of the mythological bases. New gods, old gods, angels and demons vs everyone. However where does that put the BPRD and bethmoora in this mess? Also, where do the humans stand? You might need to overhaul the usergroups.

gonna toss in my two cents right quick. I think if there is gonna be a Hellboyverse battle for Earth it should include all mythologies, that blend is where a lot of the story's charm lies. So maybe an application form open ended enough to allow for pulling of any world story but rigid enough to have power caps and weaknesses for each? Other than that I like the idea of a revamp and am excited for whatever you guys wanna try.

Greek mythology would be amazing! I spoke with administrators when I first applied about my character being a demigod, so I would love to follow it through

I agree wholeheartedly with incorporating cultural pantheons to the roleplay, especially the ones we find truly mysterious and captivating like Egyptian and Greek/Roman. Perhaps we could also include beasts/monsters of their respective mythologies? Say, a problem involving an unleashed Hydra, or an accidentally summoned Jackal Guardian? When it comes to looking at these mythologies, we want to use things that make the most sense, but are classic and interesting highlights of their culture.
I only want to remind everyone to be very careful with this though, as Deities, their semi-mortal spawn, and playing with mythology in general can get awfully messy. Lets avoid any Mary-Sues and Gary-Stus concerning Demi-Gods, and play everything with care and attention to detail. Research is good, everybody.
Edit: In addition, I think it would be fair to consider that this IS a Hellboy RP, and we should treat it as such even if we think broadening our horizons will attract more members. Canon lore is precious, and we should make sure everything fits properly before incorporating new ideas.
To be honest, what I'd really like to see in terms of plottage, is first determining what point in the story we are at (before/after/in the process of The Golden Army and any changes made in either case), then continuing a main, Canon-friendly plot involving a familiar Hellboy villain with great attention to detail. As for anything else, we could easily have spin-offs and little trails that web into the central plot, but should keep it to a minimum to avoid too much going on (which would just make everything chaotic and messy, hard to follow). I suggest a visual plan like a timeline sort of thing detailing the date, event, characters involved, and the possibilities. Just starting off with that could help us formulate more ideas to add, like one block after another.
