Caught in the still life, surrounded by the colors of war, was Prince Nuada whom had taken his place next to his king under the sunset stained sky. The maze of the battlefield below was littered by corpses of fallen men and elves alike, as the beams of sunlight crept through the overcast sky. There was a silence between himself and his father, as Nuada anticipated the rushing wave of men to break through their defenses at any moment. Spear in hand, his eyes surveyed the sky which seemed to be blanketed in fire, and crows awaiting their next meal. The men desired to expand their dominion over the entire earth, but to accomplish that goal, they would first have to defeat the elves. While the men were outmatched in skill, they were equal in their ambitions and furiousity. The screams of war and bloodlust echoed over the lands, the opponents very alike, and very different.
The quickly-fading sun dimmed over the fray. The first wave of humans had broken through the elvish front lines, as Nuada spun his spear in anticipation. Two more lines of elves protecting his father, who too had fought in this war. "Stay here. The prince ordered his king in his own tongue, his golden eyes surveying the actions of his father, who had grown weary and soft by this war, desiring less casualties. Jumping over the protective line in front of him, Nuada rushed the onslaught of men With the row of soldiers before him. Triggering his spear to grow to a longer length as he slit the throats of two humans in one blow. Humans and elves both fell to the ground suffering from their impending dooms, as the rush toward his father was forced to halt to break this final defense. The defense that would not be moved. There were only a few humans left in this wave, though Nuada anticipated the armies of reinforcement off the battlefield. Humans worthless as they were, were still capable of strategizing.
The elves moved like ghosts in the darkness, his current opponent a skilled swordsman, who served as the leader of this wave of men. Dodging his sword proved no challenge, though he managed to evade his furious strikes as well. The humans physique was growing weaker during the strenuous battle, as his fiery eyes met his opponents: amber in an elven rage. Lunging forward, he thrusted his weapon directly at the commander, whom swiftly parried. The human swung his sword with all his might at Nuada. Letting out a sigh, he casually parried the mans attack. Moving briskly he brought his spear around his midsection quickly, knocking the man backwards. The man regained his footing, charging the prince, his attacks became stronger and faster, backed by anger. The red skies turned to black, the visibility on the battlefield lowering to nearly none. A fog layered the ground, as the skies began to cry upon the scene of war. Finding more strength in the light rain, he moved with the wind, his spear moving swiftly through the storm. Muscles aching, he effortlessly knocked back a group of humans who had attempted a surprise assault. His focus never lost, his eyes were set solely on the most prominant of the men. Glancing over his shoulder only for a blink of the eye ensuring the safety of his father and sister. The battlefield was no place for her, but she had insisted on accompanying their father.
He forced the leader to fall back, as he had been doing the entire encounter, secluding him from his dying comrades. It seemed the swordsman was beginning to recognize the absence of his comfort zone, as the nearness of his allies escaped him. The man was a slippery one, difficult to hit, as the human jumped above his quick slashing spear. Pulling his short sword from his belt, Nuada surprised the man enough to run him through. "This land is not yours to claim, human." He snarled, shoving the sword deeper through the man, who stared up at him in horror. This night, marked the beginning of the war with man, under the stars that had witnessed too much war, hate, and needless deaths.
