Mutants have exposed themselves.
The Brotherhood, having targeted MacArthur Air Force Base recently has drawn the attention and ire of the human community, eliciting a response from Senator Robert Kelly to push the Mutant Registration Act into approval. With the help of the Hellfire Club secretly supplying the Sentinel Mark II, Senator Kelly recently set force an announcement for the MRA, ignoring the valiant efforts of the X-Men whom helped soldiers push back Magneto and his group of terrorist mutants. The threat became real, exposed on national television for the world to see. With the discovery of terrorist mutants the new President has hardly had a handle on the situation, terrorists no longer needing manufactured weapons when they possess a genetic set all their own. Xavier and his X-Men have begun to secretly operate from within his mansion, taking in children to train them in use of their powers so they may one day make a difference. This forced hiding has not settled well and instead of keeping them safe the New Mutants, the younger version of the X-Men, were recently attacked along with the Hellfire Club's young mutant team known as the Hellions. Selene Gallio, a woman from ages past, gave the New Mutants and Hellions over to Arcade, a mad man obsessed with toys and technology. Barely escaping with their lives the Hellions and New Mutants were left changed that day, witnessing the death of one their own.
Angered the Hellfire Club have since scolded Selene and her associate, Donald Pierce who supplied the Sentinels in the assault against the students in the place known as Murderworld. Sensing tension afoot the Hellfire Club has opened their doors in their annual gala event, inviting Xavier and his X-Men, as well as the New Mutants, searching for amnesty after all that has transpired. In the mean time Donald Pierce, seeking revenge against Magneto's intervention and his Brotherhood against Senator Kelly and in Murderworld, has decided to take matters into his own hands, throwing everything he has with his new and improved Mark II's at the Brotherhood, seeking to destroy and capture as many as possible.
Many more mutants have started to come out of the wood works – their powers either manifesting at the start, or older mutants failing to continue to hide amongst regular American citizens. The world has already accepted the fact that they, too, have mutants amongst them. The United States recently implemented marshal control of mutant policing efforts, directing the Sentinel Mark III, the latest model from Donald Pierce himself, to be the ones to enforce this new law enforcement tactic. In the mean time someone special has had his eye on mutant kind for a long time and finally has decided to invite them to a very special holiday dinner.
