»»HEIGHT:[/b] 1 m 85

»»APPEARANCE: [/b]
Carl looks perpetually tired and moody, but always dressed elegantly, black and white being his favourite colours. He usually wears a black leather trench-coat with black trousers and a white shirt. He always keeps his hair short. He has a certain dark, ruddy charm about him that goes well with his tired and moody look. Combined with his British accent and deep voice, this makes for a rather pleasant combination.
He also has a small scar above his right eyebrow, acquired as a child when he fell off his bike. His green eyes have a piercing quality to them, almost as if they could bore into a person's soul with a simple look. he also has very strong-looking hands, hinting at his working class background.
Nobody, not even Carl, knows what Callaxiam looks like. Callaxiam, however, likes to describe himself as "a dashing, handsome man with a black suit, top hat and cane". Carl, however, does not believe Callaxiam at all.
»»PERSONALITY: [/b]
Carl is a cultivated man, but his level of sophistication ends there. He has strong misanthropic tendencies and is very cynical. Carl has a rather dark sense of humour that often tends to put people off while talking to him. Although he doesn't smoke, he does consume Scotch whisky on a regular basis. He also relies heavily on sleeping pills to actually get some sleep at night, since Callaxiam never sleeps and this interferes with Carl's own sleeping habits.
Despite being a misanthropist and being able to laugh about hamsters being used as explosives, Carl is quite gentlemanly towards women and respects them deeply. This is probably due to the fact he grew up with a very strong-willed and forceful sister who went on to serve in the army. Carl also has a passion for literature and architecture, especially the Gothic and Art Nouveau currents. Some people think Carl is insane, as when he talks aloud to Callaxiam he appears to be talking to himself.
Evidently, one cannot describe Carl without talking about Callaxiam. Callaxiam is a sardonic, dastardly entity with strong womanising tendencies. He is also very hot-headed and quick to anger. He also holds grudges for impossible lengths of time, and does not bestow forgive easily. Despite his horrible temper and personality, Callaxiam knows how to enjoy the simplest pleasures in life, from a light and cool breeze blowing across the land to a beautiful lake on a Spring day.
Callaxiam and Carl argue on a regular basis over women, who gets to choose the TV channel and of course, whenever Callaxiam loses his temper and takes control of Carl's body. The latter occurrence leads to the most violent arguments, arguments that make Carl look batshit insane to any casual observers. Callaxiam is also an inveterate liar, which is not surprising.

»»HISTORY: [/b]
Carl had a pretty normal early life. Born in Sheffield, England, to a working class family, he grew up in the industrial city's streets and the surrounding moors. His aunt Delilah Greene was a medium who held séances in his family's living room, and this contributed to Carl's interest in the supernatural. He was also the best member of his local swimming club and was a voracious reader. In 1975, however, his mother died of cancer, and Carl vowed he'd find a way to bring her back from the dead.
In 1987 he went to Cambridge to study archaeology. He turned out to be a good student, although most of his spare time was spent studying folklore, going to séances and doing research on death and resurrection. This quickly became an obsession, and Carl would leap at any opportunity to delve deeper into the secrets of death that presented itself. He read the Egyptian Book of the Dead, and many other obscure tomes regarding the final journey.
When he left university and joined an archaeology agency, he was a well read, knowledgeable but solitary man. His work took him around the world, from Europe, to Asia and Africa, and America. There he learned many things, but none of them held the key to bringing back the dead. However, in 2007, he came across something that could hold the key to his goal. A 14th century necromancer and sorcerer who had lived in Wales for almost 200 hundred years before dying and being buried in a small churchyard in the mountains. Carl searched for the place for months before finally finding it atop a lonely mountain.
With only the sheep for company, Carl found the sorcerer's crypt and broke into it. With only the sheep and the wind for company, Carl set about trying to contact the spirit of the dead sorcerer, spending most of the night at the task. Around 3 in the morning, Carl, exhausted and disappointed, was about to give up when he knocked a strange glass orb to the ground. The orb shattered, releasing an entity that the sorcerer had enslaved to help him perform his magic. Said entity was a minor demon, and it quickly headed for the closest living entity: Carl.
Carl was found the next day in a village several miles away from the sorcerer's grave, lying in the ditch in front of a village pub. He was taken to hospital, where he remained for an entire week in coma like state. When he awoke, his condition seemed normal enough, and the doctors allowed him to go home. However, once he returned home, he discovered that there was somebody else sharing his body with him: the demon Callaxiam. In desperation, Carl tried to get rid of the unwelcome entity by getting a Catholic priest to exorcise him. Callaxiam, however, proved to be far more resilient than Carl had thought, and three days of attempted exorcism failed to oust him from Carl's body.
As it turned out, Callaxiam only wanted to experience the world of men from a human perspective. In the end, Carl and Callaxiam came to a tacit agreement: Callaxiam could stay so long as he didn't take control of Carl's body without the latter's accord, and Carl would leave Callaxiam be. In 2008 he was recruited by the Bureau for field work due to his knowledge of folklore and the occult, as well as the abilities Callaxiam granted him.
