Agent Abraham Sapien is a humanoid sapien, which means his body resembles that of a merman, and appears very fish-like. His skin is scaly, and smooth, slippery, and quite uniform. Due to his fish-like attributes, Agent Sapien also has gills, which allow him to breathe underwater. He is a being deprived of hair, and it seems that Agent Sapien is incapable of producing tears. His body is quite the athletic build, and is reminiscent of that of a highly experienced swimmer. He has lengthy thin arms, which make him a strong swimmer, and his chest is muscular and are marked by darker constrictions that line his shoulders and abdominal muscles. While he looks light weight, his muscle brings him to approximately 160lbs.
The man uses a breathing apparatus, due to the inability to live for long durations outside of the water. It is a collar-shaped apparatus and it's function is to provide water to his gills. His hands are that of an amphibious, yet intricate design, which support psychic abilities, such as discovering Agent Sherman was pregnant, or even conveying his emotions, and reading others.
Under his arms there are two yellow cartilages that continue to his back, which are visible if he widens his arm span. They also appear upon his long fingers, that are webbed. He is a perfect make for the aquatic environment and is unable to be defined as human as he requires the need to "get wet" due to his inability to live outside of water for long periods of time. His exact birth date is unknown, and it has been said that he's been ageless since he undergone his transformation.
The most prominent gills are spotted on his neck, starting just below the jaw. His long jaw and small chin are where the attention of most usually falls first. Though his large eyes also demand quite a lot of attention. His lips are thin and when dry they're colorless. His nose is practically non-existent, with only two small slits even hinting at his ability to breath without the aid of gills, which of course is rather misleading.
»»PERSONALITY: [/b]
Agent Sapien's personality is quite remarkable. He is a scholar type, and seems to enjoy reading for various reasons. He feels that reading helps one develop into a more interesting person, while at the same time improving ones imagination. He also reads because it keeps his ability to write correctly up to par, and he takes pride in being intelligent. He adores the capability the pages of a book hold, when words alone can educate one into things they have not experienced and take them to places that are either intangible or otherwise unseen to the reader. It introduces one to new thinking patterns, inspirations, and introduces you to fictional beings, in which Agent Sapien feels he can relate to. Though the biggest reason he reads is because he finds it entertaining. Even the non-fiction section. He seems to favor studying other species and cultures.
Another love of Abe Sapien's is classical music. He enjoys the art of discovering and comprehending how things are composed and put together. He enjoys learning and understanding how the different composers put the music together. Such as sonata forms, and trios, rondo variation. It also gives him practice with classifying what he heard into information, he is very proud of his ability to store and retain information. Aside from the intellectual challenge, Abe seems to enjoy discussing what he's heard with attentive audiences. Though as always, listening to classical music is one of his favorite past times due to it's ability to keep him entertained.
One of his more controversially child-like tendencies is playing with his Rubik's cube. He seems to enjoy challenging his intelligence at every ample opportunity, the Rubik's cubes tend to provide a leisurely challenge even to him. It is implied that the man also enjoys solving puzzles. Be them crossword or board. He enjoys thinking and the subtle art of problem-solving.
Of course swimming is another of Abe's relaxation methods. He swims for various reasons. The most obvious being he is an amphibious creature who lives in the water. Swimming undoubtedly provides Abe with unparalleled cardiovascular conditioning, and raises his good technique. It is also no secret that it builds longer and leaner muscles than that of weight training. He also enjoys the increased flexibility found in the water, the extra endurance, strengthened core, and social outlet such environments provide. Of course Agent Sapien won't swim in a public pool, since he is nonexistent from the world outside of B.P.R.D. He couldn't even imagine the horrified expressions on civilian faces should they come face to face with him.
Though Agent Sapien has many likes, there are things he often disagrees with. Although he loves his best friend Agent Hellboy, sometimes his methods upset Agent Sapien. The constant need to be in the spotlight, desire to play hero and be known for it, and rebelling against what seems like common sense sometimes gets to Abe. Along with the occasional insensitivity that Hellboy displays. While it is no secret to Abe that Hellboy means the best for everyone and everything, it has long been said that the pathway to hell is paved with good intentions.
Drama and violence are two things that Abe cannot stand. Though he is put in situations as an agent of B.P.R.D. to deal with both at times, he has never enjoyed doing it. He has a 'No Violence Policy', and refuses to display signs of aggression without just cause. Of course things within B.P.R.D. have a way of sometimes literally 'blowing up in ones face' as he would delicately put it. The entire establishment is aware of the disputes between Hellboy and Liz Sherman due to Hellboy's tendencies to throw tantrums, and of course the very occasional 'blow up' from Liz.
Abe seems to dislike being drunk and unable to control his actions. He treats his body as a temple and is generally maintains a very healthy selection to which he choses to consume. Alcohol is not among his favorite things. He also dislikes drugs, and taking antibiotics, though he realizes that sometimes this is a requirement that cannot be avoided.
He prefers to play by the book and play fair, but sometimes he is forced to go against his natural nature. He dislikes breaking rules, and the possibility of getting caught doing so, unlike his best friend Agent Hellboy who often seems to have a love for going out of the way of the law, the contract, and the rules that are laid out for agents of the B.P.R.D.
While others of the B.P.R.D. sometimes refer to him as Fish Man, Fish Stick, Blue, Brother Blue, he prefers to be called Abe. He's not a fan of being referred to as Fish, though he says nothing as he choses his battles wisely. Blue and Brother Blue he tends to take for more of a compliment than an insult, however.
Agent Sapien has a love for life, and gets upset when the importance of life itself is taken for granted, or is completely disregarded. While they are Agents, he feels that more often than not, they use their brawn instead of brains to solve problems. Sometimes resulting in death, or collateral damage. He believes that not everything needs to be handled by force.
In short, his personality is closer to that of a mediator or a diplomat. He is very calm and reflexive, and proves that he is able to adjust to his environment very quickly, along with the situation. He acts as if he was a perfect gentleman, and uses traditional dialogue unlike that of his companion Red. He shows professional kindness, which often attributes to his information gathering skills. He is highly empathic, and can feel the emotions around him at times even if he is able to remain neutral to them. His facial expressiveness is rather reduced and it is impossible for him to express human emotions such as fear, or anger. His calm nature is very well presented, and of course because of his facial restrictions he appears calm even when he is not. He can't stand complaining about himself so when he disagrees he usually remains quiet.
When there is a question of revealing courage and faithfulness in the moment of need, he does not hesitate. He will risk everything, including his very life to help a friend or a foe. It makes him quite unpredictable, although upon helping others he does not boast or feel pride about what is done. He thinks about what is needed, and then executes. He can very rarely prove to be impulsive.

»»FAMILY TREE:[/b]
»»Edith Howard - Deceased - Wife: Langdon Caul's wife, who Abe learned had drowned herself out of madness. She became a spectre that was forced to be exorcised after she attempts to have Abraham Sapien resume life as Caul. Abe now lives with the memory of a wife he could never know. She is his ghost of a rose.
»»IDOLS:[/b]
»»Hellboy: Hellboy, another agent of the B.P.R.D. has become Abraham's best friend, closer to brother. While he loves the demon, he does not always agree with his methods. Abraham feels he can relate to Agent Hellboy on several different levels, and therefore would consider him a great influence in his life.
»»Elizabeth Sherman: Also known as Liz, Elizabeth is Hellboy's love interest, and Abraham's partner. The trio have worked together to fulfill goals or quite some time, and Elizabeth has always been supportive of him. She proves to be more level-headed than his best friend, and he does confide in her from time to time.
»»The B.P.R.D.: The agency is what Abraham considers his family. It is the only place he truly feels he belongs, and he is highly partial to the company he keeps within the organization.
»»HISTORY: [/b]
Abraham was born Langdon Everett Caul, and he was a Victorian-Age scientist and occult investigator. He was also a member of a secret society known as the Oannes Society. Before his transformation, Langdon found a creature that resembled that of a jellyfish and the Oannes Society alongside him performed a ritual on it. This resulted with Langdon becoming a different species labeled Ichthyo Sapien. The society then imprisoned Langdon in a large tube of water in Washington DC. Later in time, the Civil War forced the society to leave the building in which he was imprisoned, and he was later found by a group of workmen in November 1978.
With no memory of who he was, Langdon took on the identity of Abe Sapien from the last name of his species, and the piece of paper he received with the date of Abe Lincoln's assassination (April 14, 1865). Not long after, he was taken to the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense where he was educated and nearly dissected until he was saved by an empathetic Hellboy. Later, he became a valueable field agent of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (B.P.R.D.), and close friend of Agent Hellboy. He had his first mission with Hellboy in 1981.
It is thanks to the B.P.R.D. that Agent Sapien has acquired a breathing apparatus that allows him to breath outside of the water, but only for short periods and with mechanical assistance. He is a very intelligent man with telepathic an psychometric powers, which of course makes him a key member of the team. He is very quiet and reserved, and better suited for strategic guidance and tactics than action.
He often finds himself in disagreements with his best friend Agent Hellboy, and although they are close they do not always agree. In fact, some of their views are completely opposite from one another. Due to this, the two are close friends, but united in the feeling of exclusion from mankind. Sapien possesses knowledge of the occult, and obtains a paranormal expertise rivaled only by Professor Bruttenholm. He is nicknamed "Blue" as Hellboy, is nicknamed "Red".
Although his past has been lost and confused, he refrains from speaking about it. He is easily one of the special, yet mysterious, agents of the team, making him among the more celebrated in the B.P.R.D. He prides himself in studying and has become quite intellectual as time progressed. After the death of the Professor, Abe remained loyal to Hellboy and decides to continue on the Professor's path of helping the B.P.R.D. It is, after all, his home.

The rain fell silently from the dark, overcast night sky as Prince Nuada returned to the crowded streets and alleys of the Troll Market. He had made his home here, at least temporarily, though he traveled much too frequently on his own business as of late to really be settled. The life of a rogue seemed to fit him like a glove, although he missed his twin sister Nuala more often than he cared to admit. He wondered, as he walked the streets, if she would recognize him now. If her feelings would be the same as they once were, or if he would be greeted like a complete and total stranger. It had been many years, many seasons, and many days since he had last seen his father or his sister. They had even relocated their refuge since they had last spoken. His decision would not falter. He stood firm in his self-imposed exile until the time was right to reclaim their birthright, he would wait until the people needed him most. Though, he knew in his heart that his time away from his twin was nearing an end. His time away from his responsibility was here. His people did need him, especially if they were living underground of all places. There was no honor to be had in this situation and who was responsible for their situation? Humans of course.
Humans had control over everything. Greed had burned a hole in their heart that they could not fill. Even after generations of attempting to fill this hole, their lust for power seemed to be insatiable. While Nuada cherished his father, King Balor, he was unable to accept his decision, this 'truce' with the inferior race. The humans had everything in their power, in their possession, the idea of a truce was ridiculous. The truce was nothing, save one-sided. Mankind could not be trusted to hold the end of the simplest bargain without cheating. It was no secret to Nuada that the only time a human would keep their end of the deal was when there was something to gain. Something in return. Some form of instant (or drawn out) gratification that would quench their greed for maybe five minutes before they found something else they desired to 'work' for.
Sighing, Nuada turned the corner down a dark alley and made his way toward the pub. He had been underground in the sewers today training with his sword and lance, and of course had been longing for the company of his companion Mr. Wink, a troll in whom he'd fashioned a metal hand for. Tinkering was one of Nuada's favorite past times, and he had always enjoyed creating and repairing items by himself. He was quite the handy man, and it made him feel a sense of accomplishment to finish such tasks, even if they were unimportant. The time was drawing nearer and nearer, and training was of the essence. Then again, so was time. Mr. Wink had listened to and helped Nuada devise a plan to come out of exile, and reclaim the lost crown piece of Bethmoora. The one the humans had taken for granted and were about to auction off. Stupid inferior beings.
Entering the pub, Nuada took a seat in the darkest corner of the dining chamber and sat down. This was a small pub known as the Leaky Dinghy and it was run by a group of ogres, with whom he had become fond of. Nuada isn't the hardest person to get along with, so long as you are not a human, though he is commanding, insensitive, and does not let anyone close. He sat down, though his golden eyes fell on the barkeeper, he knew he would not have to order anything as he had been coming regularly as of late. It was important to keep ones strength and health, and that entitled a healthy diet. He felt the eyes fall upon him, as he had not bothered to cloak himself. He did not pay any mind to anyone who feared him, or loved him, or simply did not know what to think. He was coming out of exile, and of course that means that he would be making himself known.
