»»APPEARANCE:
Standing with a tall stature, Ceto can hardly be described as lanky. She is a curvaceous woman, with looks that can kill. She has long green poised snakes nestled around her head, and many of them have earth-toned stripes and bangles. Her eyes are light grey, sometimes mistaken for blue, though they do change to white when she is using her abilities upon an unfortunate victim.
She often wears dark shades to cover her eyes, in order to spare the lives of others. After all, creating statues does get tiresome after a while, even to Ceto. She also is fond of a black trench coat, though wears earthly toned clothing beneath it. When traveling in the world of humans, she either wears a veil to cover her face, or a very secure hat to hide her hair, with shades to cover her eyes.
»»PERSONALITY:
Ceto is who she is. She is stubborn, brash and unapologetic. She is sometimes described as corrupt, though the truth is she is more or less misunderstood. She is confident in her beliefs, which are not easily swayed. She is stuck in her ways, and is both hard-headed and hot-tempered when she is challenged. Though in the public light she is viewed as a total bitch, those who know her know that she isn't as bad as she sounds.
She doesn't dislike being a gorgon, though turning her friends to stone sometimes has its downside. She keeps some of her 'statue' sculptures inside her house for company, similar to that of a child having a tea party with stuffed animals. She has accepted that being a gorgon is part of who she is.
She enjoys reading and staying informed. She has a love of other creatures, but does not hesitate when she needs to protect herself. Humans who know of the mythical world should be in that organization known as the BPRD or simply destroyed to hold the secret. After all, no one likes creatures of destruction wandering around their environment as if they own it... A lesson could be learned from the natives of America in this instance.
Ceto is a non-conformist and is easily aggravated by the idea of the world becoming less vast due to conformation, and industrial gain. Humans are easily the most populated creature of the planet, and therefore their conforming habits take away from the limitless possibilities the world has to offer.
She enjoys yoga, and outdoor sports, almost as much as she enjoys spending time in the library. Books are easily her best friend as they cannot be transformed into stone when she reads them. She is highly informed and intelligent, though she doesn't always let it show. She knows very well that nobody likes a know it all. She nearly always says what is on her mind. She is honest in most cases, but she lies when she feels it is needed.
She rolls with the highest bidder, making her more along the lines of 'chaotic neutral'. She believes that anything can be accomplished for the right price. (Especially if it means destroying those who know the secrets of the mythical world.)
THE BACKGROUND
"I'm not a baby, I'm a tumor." -Tumor.
»»Ceto and Phorcys: RUMORED. The sea monster Ceto and the sea god Phorcys. Such rumors hold no reality in Ceto's eyes, and she does not believe this is truth. She still continues gathering information on her possible parents however.
»»Stentho, Euryale, and Medusa: Also RUMORED. Ceto has long given up her search for the other gorgons, though it has once been rumored that these three legendary gorgons were her siblings. She does not expect they are, though she continues to gather information about them.
»»IDOLS:
»»Homer: The Greek Poet. Ceto idolizes this human for his classical works such as the Iliad and the Odyssey. This man alone has influenced the history of literature, which she has noted. She also enjoys reading about his interpretations of the Gorgons, even if they are more barbaric in his writings than the legends in which once occurred.
»»Stentho, Euryale, and Medusa: The three gorgon sisters of legend. Those in which led the original tribe, though Ceto does not remember much of them. Her current memory is mostly book founded, as it seems she has either forgotten or her memory was wiped of such beings and events.
»»HISTORY:
Born around the year 550BC in ancient Greece, Ceto was born of an old tribe of gorgons. Traditionally, their tribe was led by three famous gorgons, two in which were immortal. Stheno and Euryale being immortal, and also being who Ceto was named after, while their sister Medusa was not. Medusa was supposedly later slain by the mythical hero known as Perseus, but of course not everything you read is accurate. Ceto was young at the time, and has no recollection to verify the facts of Medusa's whereabouts, though remains skeptical that the strong gorgon was slain by something so feeble, such as man.
Blessed with a legendary gaze, in the olden days Greeks put up images of the Gorgons upon objects and buildings for protection. For example, the image of the Gorgon takes a primary location in the pediment in the temple at Corfu. This is the oldest stone pediment in Greece and was created in 600 BC.
Ceto was the daughter of the sea, though unlike the Gorgon sisters before her, Ceto has no recollection of how she came to be. Her memory of the olden days has long since vanished, along with the other Gorgons, who she has given up her search for. It was once rumored that she too was a daughter of Ceto and Phorcys, though she has accepted this information to be completely ridiculous and unfounded.
In the mid-1900s, Ceto traveled to the United States and discovered a human movement against paranormal and unexplained forces. This organization called the BPRD. She applied to work with them, and did so for a short amount of time, before deciding that the organization authorities were corrupt and had never had the proper motivation or goals set to run this agency. She completed a few missions all dated between 1930 and 1965, before taking her leave.
Once she departed from the BPRD, she began a new life on the outside, living among humans as a stone sculptor. Creating statues of animals and humans alike, Ceto has made quite a notable establishment. She is quite successful at selling garden decorations, such as stone bunnies, or cats, even the occasional fountain with a human piece. She charges much and takes her 'time' to make it appear mundane, though her creations are easily solved by means of her stone stare.

Covell knew well enough that Potions was Gale's least favourite subject, though he nodded feeling able to relate. He smiled casually, while finally getting the ice cream to below the brim of the cone in the shape of a mug. Now he could eat like a civilized man, though he doubted very seriously he would. He never had table etiquette in ice cream parlors, there was really no point to it. Refocusing his attention, he realized he would not be able to relate 100 percent as his potions abilities were right up there with Charms and Transfiguration. It had been History of Magic and Defence Against the Dark Arts he had struggled with. Though he did know from experience that regardless of the initial aptitude a student would present, he or she always had the chance to grow into the skill. “I know that you think you're horrible, when in fact you have great potential to adjust to the art. Potions is intricate, but you've always excelled with being a quick thinker, and I have faith that you will figure it out.” Covell had clasped a hand around Gale's shoulder without thinking, encouragingly. He knew he was in his seventh year, and this would undoubtedly prove to be another tough year for him when it came to potions class, but at least he would not have to face it alone. “Kili should be able to help you along, there.” Covell added. He stirred his ice cream, making the cone glow with spirals of light matching the enchantment on his treat. His brows raised in amusement when Gale admitted to trying a few charms over the summer, though he wasn't too surprised. He expected such behaviour of all of his students. After all, practice makes perfect, and the Ministry of Magic really wouldn't do much about it with their current quarells.
Covell sighed as the reality smacked him in the face. The secret of magic may soon be broken. He shook his head again, nervously combing his fingers through the tangled mess that sat upon his head, certain that he hadn't been particularly good at hiding his random line of thought. “Ah the Muggle Repelling Charm...” He grinned to hear that he got it right, though he hadn't doubted Gale's capabilities in the subject. “So you sealed off your room from your family? That's quite advanced charm work.” Covell laughed with him, gleefully, eyes lighting up at the images that came to mind. Gale could paint quite a picture, he could almost see Gale's aunt demanding him to counter the charm. “I'm glad to hear that your enchantment suceeded. The Muggle-Repelling Charm is actually on the criteria this year, are you aware?” He grinned, though he had become slightly distracted by the missing prefects badge on the students uniform. He remained silent, though allowed his eyes to linger on the spot where his badge should be. Had he rejected the position? That seemed rather unlikely, but he could not recall Gale being untidy or forgetful. Perhaps he didn't know the student as well as he thought. Fortunately, Mr. Moxy seemed to be one of the few students in Gryffindor who knew him well enough to know of his social awkwardness and not call attention to it. He had been concerned about inquiring about his first visit to Diagon Alley, and had been relieved when Gale took seemingly no annoyance at the 'nosing' into students lives that Covell was sometimes guilty of.
He took another bite from the colorful, now glowing, bowl and allowed his eyes to move off of the missing badge. He shifted slightly to get more comfortable, and crossed his legs, allowing a hand to rest in his lap. He listened as Gale recounted his memories of his first visit to the magical lane known as Diagon Alley. The boy had mentioned that he had gotten lost, but that didn't seem too far fetched to Ridley. The place was confusing in a crowd during good weather, so he could only imagine how strange an experience it must have been for Gale to come with his Uncle and cousin. He chuckled aloud, and covered his mouth to try to hide it as he mentioned his cousin had ditched him for a snogging. “You're cousin sounds like quite the charmer.” Covell teased. “I didn't know you actually hated each other, I thought that perhaps it was mutual annoyance or dislike from what I saw and heard.” Covell admitted. “Family...” Covell whispered, in a bit of a delayed response due to Gale admitting Kili was like his family. He shoved back playfully, eyes lit with amusement, as it was second nature for him. If there was one word that would describe the personal Ridley, it would not be 'serious'. He could not help thinking of his conversation with Addedna earlier. Her words filled his memory though he was hoping his sobered expression had gone unnoticed. When are you going to find yourself a wife and have some children of your own?” Without thinking, he had asked aloud “How old is too old to consider having a family?” To a staff member it would be obvious that he had been speaking to Professor Flysly, but he wasn't sure that Gale would know the Professor well enough to know where the idea had sprung from.
