CLASSIFIED INFORMATION
"And your name is... oh, dear." -Nuala.
»»FULL NAME: Fae Schwarz; the last name she picked out for herself, her real surname forgotten long ago.
»»AGE: By no means an immortal, but still rather old.
»»OCCUPATION: Bookstore Owner
»»FACTION: The Fae Court
»»SPECIES : Half Elf
»»ALIGNMENT: Neutral
»»ABILITY: Empath:
Empathy is the ability to sense the emotions of those around you and influence those emotions. In Fae's case, she can instill the same emotions into objects, or read the traces of emotion left behind in an object or place.
- - -Strength: She's basically a living lie detector. She can catch a glimpse of the memory left behind with an object's emotion. Likewise, false memories can be implanted in an object with the false emotions she leaves behind, but also only a glimpse of one.
- - -Drawbacks: She at least needs to be within three feet or a person to be able to read their emotions. Her powers work best if she's actually touching the person in some form. Stronger emotions, such as rage and lust, are easier for her to read, but to instill them in something else takes a greater amount of energy than a simpler emotion. Her abilities tend to cloud her judgment, especially when there's a great deal of strong emotion surrounding her; likewise, any extreme and sudden emotion felt by herself can make her powers go haywire, and flood her own emotions into the closest people.

»»APPEARANCE:
Fae is a tall, willowy wisp of a woman; her skin is, of course, not as pallid as that of a full elf, but is paler than average for a human, and unmarred for the most part save for a few nicks here or there. Everything about her is thin, from her face to her legs, to her fingers and hands. Save for the slightly pointed ears, and the unusual little features, Fae passes off just about fine in the Human world.Because of her thin face, her eyes are on the larger side, round and heavily lashed. The odd coloring of her eyes are a mixture of the natural coloring of her father's people and that of a human's. Unlike elf hair, pin straight and a pale almost white blonde, Fae's hair has soft waves and curls throughout, and the color is a bit of a darker goldish color with soft white blonde highlights.
Her normal outfit typically consists of loose, comfortable clothing; baggy, long sleeved shirts and skirts, sneakers or sandals. She's not usually one for jewelry unless the occasion calls for it, and almost never wears makeup; her hair is almost always down. The colors she enjoys to wear the most include burgundy, dark browns and greens, mostly earthy tones.
»»PERSONALITY:
While Fae is by no means weak in spirit, she is on the quieter side, preferring solitude to company. Even so, this does not necessarily mean that she has no enthusiasm for contact or conversation; it just means that she prefers one over the other. When in conversation, Fae is a versed, intelligent individual with quite a few opinions on whatever topic that one is interested in questioning her about. Decades upon decades of simply wandering the Earth, taking in what information she could, still hasn't quenched her thirst for knowledge, and interacting with others is a wonderful way to learn; her preference for solitude lies in a subtle fear of being discovered for what she is. She isn't ignorant to the ways of Man, and how they tend to jump to the worst conclusion when it comes to what they don't understand.
Name a book, Fae's probably read it. When one has a lifespan that, while it is not immortal, is very much longer than that of the average human, one needs to find a hobby with which to fill it with. For Fae, it's reading, learning, understanding what's going on around her. Books, language, the arts and sciences, there's nothing that doesn't seem to fascinate her. It could be the most mundane sort of skill, and Fae will want to learn about it and how she can use it for herself. Cooking, architecture, art, poetry, etc., she just wants to know all she can about it, and more when new information comes in the future. Someday, she hopes to learn more about her father's people, past the stories that her mother told her long ago, and past what she's read in books that Man has written. She longs for the truth.
Being an empath, Fae is in tune with all living creatures, and that includes humans. While she does not appreciate what they've done to the Earth, and even mourns how they waste and destroy a land that was practically given to them, she takes into account that they do not know any better, and that there is a good percentage of them that are at least trying to fix what they've hurt. She has hope for the future of mankind, even though she is aware that Man is doomed to repeat history; they learn from their mistakes, and thrive and evolve, and being half human herself, she is fascinated by their will to survive and prosper. She adores all sorts of animals, and is rather sensitive to their needs, definitely the major reason that Fae decided to be a vegan. Inside her apartment alone is her own mini garden that she tends to and cares for every day: it's already grown along one of her walls, and she's ecstatic about it. As to animals, she'll try to take in any stray that she can and care for it, while also leaving the creature the option to leave, not believing in owning any sort of pet. She delights, however, when they decide to return to her and keep her company.
Unfortunately, being an empath and being acutely attuned to the emotions of everything around you has quite a few drawbacks, the main one being extra sensitive with the change and tide of human emotions. In her opinion, every single human is bipolar in their own way. While years of learning to control her ability has helped her to be able to block out most unwanted emotion, a feeling that is strong enough, or a moment of weakness on her part, will catch her off guard. She finds that a heavy sorrow tends to weigh in her chest most of the time; sorrow and a pent up anger that she has towards the humans that she can't avoid. Their feelings and problems weigh heavily on her, and she almost regrets the powers that she has.
As well as this sensitivity, she finds that her emotions tend to override her sense of logic. Although she doesn't wish it to be so, she tends to let her heart do the thinking, rather than her brain. She knows in the pit of her stomach when something is wrong, and yet faced with a life or death situation, or even just a remotely dire situation, all logic is lost to her. She acts on instinct and feeling rather than thought, and finds that this usually tends to get her into more trouble than before.
Age has instilled a few fears in Fae; she fears humans, despite how fascinated she is with them. She knows them to be cruel, ruthless to things of her nature. She fears that she'd be strapped to a table and have her organs placed in jars for study if she were found out for what she was, hence most of her hermit like habits. She fears the dark, despite how she tries to tell herself that it's only the human instinct of fearing the unknown, she still can't help herself. She fears disappointment, rejection; that she'll learn that her father's people aren't as wonderful as she'd brought her expectations to believe. In rejection, she is afraid of never finding her place in life...she can't have a natural place amongst Man, it'd be even worse if she had no sense of purpose in the magical realm either.
THE BACKGROUND
"I'm not a baby, I'm a tumor." -Tumor.
»»FAMILY TREE:
»»Unnamed father; elf (deceased?) - Her mother spoke all too highly of her father, and didn't leave her without a night of telling her a tale the man relayed onto her. He was apparently a soldier in Balor's army who had to leave her mother in the end to return to his people. He is assumed dead, given he never returned.
»»Fiona, mother; human (deceased) - Although she did not live too long in Fae's eyes, given her prolonged lifespan, she raised and cared for her daughter as long as she could; the only mistake she made was keeping her child from the world up until the day she died, fearing what would happen to her if subjected to humans. She was a kind, strong hearted woman who lived away from her people, a woman who named her daughter for the people she had descended from.
»»IDOLS:
»»Her mother - Being the greatest, and possibly only, influence in her life, Fae greatly admired and respected the woman who brought her into this world. Her death is one that still hangs on her, even though she lived a long, healthy life in human terms.
»»Her father's stories - Although she didn't hear them from his mouth directly, her mother would regale her each night of her father's adventures, as well as the tales of other armies, such as Nuada's. They didn't squelch her desire to learn more of her father's people and satisfy her, but made her want to know more, and learn more of the other realm.
»»HISTORY:
Fae was born in a rainy day in April, in a little cottage on the very outskirts of the woods, far from the neighboring town. In her most secret dreams, she vaguely recalls a beautiful near white face, and believes it to be her father; other than that, she never knew the man. Her mother and herself lived on their own; when her mother went into town to get necessities or to sell what they grew in their garden, she left the girl to tend to the house. At the time, she never even gave a second thought that she might be different from anyone. She cooked and cleaned, helped her mother pick herbs and vegetables and would strive simply just to be a good daughter, like she was raised to be. However, when she noticed that her mother was getting older, as the years went by, she began to question why she stayed so young. In turn, she began to notice just how very different in appearance that she was to her mother. Before her mother died, she relayed that the stories she'd told her every night before she went to sleep weren't the conjurations of a fantastical mind: her father was the soldier in every story, and Fae was not the normal young girl that she had thought she was all this time. Her mother finally died around the time the half elf reached her teen years. She burned her mother's body on the appropriate funeral pyre and gave her an adoring and sorrowful sendoff; she was left alone in the world.
However, no one knew; her mother was practically a hermit. No one suspected, but they were surprised that instead of her, a young girl would visit town instead. She managed to convince the various store clerks that she was Fiona's helper, in her old age. They were still suspicious; they'd never seen her in town before, and everyone was certain that they would have recognized such a lovely face in town before. Fae only stayed long enough to make a small sum for herself before traveling out into the world; she couldn't live in a place that made her remember her sorrow, or in a place that she knew she'd probably be endangered in eventually. Not to mention, puberty came with the beginning of her developing empathic ability, and being unable to control it, she feared being around too many emotions and people and hurting someone.
From there, Fae would travel wherever her heart desired to take her; she never stayed in one place too long, and only collected what she needed before uprooting herself again. Along the way, of course, she'd make herself her own collection of books and bring them with her everywhere. She began to fancy herself her own traveling library, and after she eventually got bored with one book, she would sell it (as hard as it was for her to part with text) to make more money to be able to live at the very least how she wanted. It was around this time that she began as a small bookstore, selling or renting out her books to make her living in a particular town before leaving again; as many books as she sold, she would collect new ones to satisfy her thirst, but she could never find the books that she wanted to. Unfortunately, as tuned as she was with the realm of Man, she couldn't for the life of her find a way to make contact with her father's realm. She didn't know if it was because she was ignorant to it or she just didn't look hard enough; it was always a disappointment. Every day, she would wonder if she'd just made contact with something fantastic and they just refused to show themselves to someone such as her.
As the years and traveling easily passed her by, she found herself finally out of Europe and in the United States; she's opened her newest bookstore in the state's capital, Trenton, and wonders if, maybe this time, she could finally just stay in one place. Americans don't seem to be as friendly and close to their neighbors as what she was used to, so maybe she could finally just live in anonymity here without anyone realizing. Maybe here she can find peace.

Another day, another dollar; that was a saying that constantly rung through Kaela's mind. Even if the workload was too much for her, she would say this in her mind and find the strength to finish the job, and it finish it well too. Today wasn't so bad though, just sweeping the hallways for now, and then she had to go help make lunch and tea; she loved making tea. There were always so many kinds, especially in a home as grand as this one. She swore every time she stepped onto the property that she was being transported back into the old days of Edo. Grayish eyes didn't look up from the task at hand, or at least barely did; her long black hair was pulled up into a loose bun to keep it off the back of her neck and out of the way, though a few unruly strands did manage to fall out and frame about her pale face. She wore the outfit that was assigned to all the caretakers to wear, only further solidifying her belief that she'd actually gone back in time. It was nice though, to feel like she wasn't currently in the present.
She smiled and hummed softly to herself, whisking dust and other debris toward the porch with her broom; sock clad feet stepped and slid slightly along the polished wooden floor. She stepped out onto the porch and swept the dust off to the ground, pausing for a moment to look over the grounds. The beautiful trees and gardens, the little river that ran through and under a little bridge...all the houses...she imagined she was in a little, old village, taking in a deep breath, the scent of the sakura blossoms and other assorted flowers surrounding her. It was so peaceful here...and yet...eerily so. She couldn't help but wonder, although so pretty, that this place was a ghost town. Save for the other maids, and maybe one Sohma or two, she didn't really...ever see anybody. Everyone seemed to just keep to themselves, or not come out at all. It was very strange, for having so many family members living on the estate. Not to mention most of the maids, who actually were family, seemed to stop talking whenever she came into the room. That was the biggest concern she had; it felt like everyone was keeping something from her. Unfortunately, it actually made the job so much more interesting for her. She figured that, maybe if she worked hard and did as she was told, she'd be let in on whatever it was she wasn't being told.
If only, if only...for now she would finish sweeping and get to lunch, still humming that little tune.
