Elves are a species of mythical beings, who's appearances range from being very beautiful and very human, to a strikingly unusual one. Unlike elves from Lord of the Rings, Hellboy elves do not have pointed ears. Instead they are identified by paper white skin, and in some cases golden eyes. Not all elves are blond, for that matter. In the Hellboyverse it is believed that King Dadga was an elf.
Our story begins at the dawn of time, or so it is said in children's stories that have been passed on. It is strange how often stories hold the root of truth, ironic really, but something we often overlook. It is said that at the dawn of time all magical beings lived under the father tree, be them elves, beasts, ogres, or anything of the like. While the magical beings were made with purpose and structure: Man was created with a hole in his heart. A hole that nothing can fill, a hole that leaves them greedy and unsatisfied. In their dreams to quench their greedy hearts, the kingdom of men came up with a new desire. A dire one. A desire to expand their dominion over every corner of the Earth.
Many lives were lost in the war with men. The blood of elves, ogres, and humans alike stained the Earth, but it was no secret to the world of magic that humans had outnumbered and outmatched them. As magical beings fell under the skies that had witnessed too many unneeded war, and innocent blood shed, King Balor watched in despair. In time, as the war held fast, King Balor was addressed by the master goblin blacksmith, who offered a freedom unknown to man. He offered to build a golden army, 70 by 70 leagues, that would be both indestructible and unstoppable. King Balor's oldest son, Prince Nuada, begged his father to take the deal, and it was done. The goblins forged a magical crown to command this army, if the holder remained unchallenged. “I am King Balor, and I will command this army. Is there no one here who disputes my right?” The King had asked. Left unchallenged, the king obtained control over this powerful golden army.
The world had been changed, as had the fates, and the next time the humans raised arms, they felt the earth quake, and saw the sky darken. The golden army crushed the leagues of men, feeling no remorse. No loyalty. No pain. Observing the men fall, in yet more needless war, King Balor called off the Golden Army. With his heart, heavy with regret, King Balor called a truce with the world of men. He split the crown into three pieces. One would be given to the humans. Two would be kept for the elves. In return for mercy, humans would have dominion over the earth, and the magical creatures would keep to the forests, until the end of time. Outraged by his fathers mercy towards a race that had forgotten the gods, and any sense of purpose, Prince Nuada went into self-imposed exile. Promising to return when his people needed him most. The army, on the other hand, was left underground. Still and silent and indestructible.
Now, the exiled prince has returned from his exile and has every intention of waging war upon the humans. However, since this forum is Alternate Universe, Nuada is having to band together with his enemies momentarily to fight off the greater enemy: the demons of AB Syndicate.
ADMINISTRATOR NOTE: Elves, for the sake of simplicity, can simply be referred to as ancient. We will permit the occasional immortal elf, however immortals cannot be indestructible, as that defeats the point of picking quarrels with others.
Please remember to review the ability guide for what powers they are allowed, before just making one up. Thank you!
Race loyalties (For application purposes):
Balor (Neutral toward humans), Nuada (Humans must die)
